About Diane

I have been a Counsellor for nearly 20 years, before which I followed many different career paths and had many of my own challenges.
Challenges may be similar, but we all experience them in different ways.
However, I believe that I have a good understanding of many of the issues my Clients bring, which enables me to give depth to the Counselling I offer.
I am an Integrative Counsellor, which is a confusing title. It means I use a mix of different Models of Counselling. Perhaps the best way to explain this is that it is like having many ingredients to make a cake and choosing the best ones for the job.
I trained at the University of Kent in Canterbury. I have studied many types of Counselling over the years and recently completed a training course with Metanoi Institute in Counselling for Depression.
This really goes back to the original talking therapies and is a gentle therapy.
I am mostly person-centred and I am also quite Solution Focused.
I also feel that the Bereavement challenges are probably at the core of most of the Clients I work with. That is, not only the loss of someone by death, but in relationships, jobs, loss of confidence, self -esteem etc. I also work with clients with gender issues and their families.
I have worked a great deal with clients and their families with addiction challenges.
At these times we perhaps all need a listening non-judgmental ear.
